PAST EVENTS
On 18 November 2017, SMU MAC has planned an interactive workshop titled Purpose-led Strategy for Sustainable Success. It was jointly organised by SMU MAC and TLC Asia at Taw Win Garden hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. The workshop was well-participated, fully signed up and successful. It was great learning and networking opportunity for everyone. We aim to organise more of such fruitful events in future.
On November 25 2017, SMU MAC also organised a self-funded bonding trip to Bagan (located upper Myanmar) for Bagan Temple Run 2017. With a large group of alumni sharing common interest in running and sports, we will be participating in more of such events in near future.
In the month of December, we were glad to host 2 undergraduates teams from SMU in Yangon. One team is led by Professor Lee Yeow Leong from SIS. This team of SMU SIS's elite undergraduates were in Yangon, Myanmar for SMU SIS Technology Learning Trip during which they visited various companies to learn and network. We are proud to say that most companies they visited are successfully run and led by our very own SMU alumni such as CarsDB, Nex Lab, City Mart Holding, BOD Tech & Innoveller , & Vanguard IT solutions. Our SMU MAC team had great gathering and networking session with them on Dec 13, 2017.
Another team of SMU undergraduates were here for their community service project - Project Alinn Yaung 4 which is led by SMU Myanmar undergraduates. This whole team consists of different nationalities of SMU students. It was their fourth instalment. Their almost 2 weeks long project is aimed to achieve sustainable development for the rural school in Bago which is 1.5 hours drive away from Yangon. They taught and interacted with young students there gaining many precious memories. SMU MAC had a gathering and sharing session with some SMU Myanmar undergraduates on Dec 25, 2017.
On Dec 9 2017, SMU MAC members also attended their 2nd Myanmar Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of Myanmar which is about 6 hours drive away from Yangon. This was one anticipating events for youths like us since keynote address was given by H.E Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor. On top of that, Entrepreneurship Development, Digital Technology, Social Enterprises and Financial Topics were discussed by subject experts at this yearly event. It was a great opportunity for our members to learn and network.
New Year Gathering will be happening on 27 January 2018. Do join us if you can!
