Dear SMUAA Members,

We're excited to invite you to our upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting ("EGM") on Tuesday, 14th March 2023 at 7:00pm in Alcove. It's going to be an important event where we propose 2 changes to our constitution that will streamline our work processes and most importantly, benefit you and fellow members.

Our proposed changes are as follows:

Appointment of Auditors
We would like our Constitution to make it clear that less formal audit arrangements are permitted in respect of any financial year where the gross income or expenditure of the association does not exceed $500,000 in that financial year, which will enable us to save costs.

Membership Fees Structure
We would like to give ExCo the flexibility, which is not present under the current Constitution, to set subscription fees other than on a strictly annual basis. For example, to enable members to have the option of saving money by subscribing on a multi-year basis.
The wording of each the two Resolutions we are suggesting to implement these changes is available on SMUAA’s website.

EGM Programme Details:
7:00pm – 7:05pm: Opening Address by SMUAA President
7:05pm – 7:30pm: EGM
7:30pm onwards: Networking

A quorum of 30 pax is required. Wine and food will be served at the event.
